Daphne Fancutt Shield 2010
WE DID IT ! Waverley Tennis successfully defended the Shield again.
The Annual Daphne Fancutt Shield was played at Robinson Reserve over the week-end of 16th & 17th January.
Waverley Tennis had a very successful Daphne Fancutt Shield emerging as the winners (Waverley Tennis retained the Shield for the fifth consecutive year). The weather did give us some anxious moments on the Sunday.
The overall team results were as follows:
1. Waverley Tennis; 6 matches won, 73 sets won, 503 games won
2. Eastern Region Tennis; 5 matches won, 62 sets won, 457 games
3. North Suburban Junior Tennis Association; 4 matches won, 57 sets won, 429 games won
4. North Eastern Junior Tennis Association; 3 matches won, 48 sets won, 407 games won
5. Fancutt Junior Tennis Club (Queensland); 2 matches won, 33 sets won, 316 games won
6. North Central Victoria; 1 match won, 23 sets won, 270 games won
7. Peninsula Tennis Association; nil matches won, 19 sets won, 221 games won
The individual player awards (Best Team Member Awards) were won by the following players:

The Overall Excellence Award was won by Robert Hilbig (Waverley Tennis). Robert was undefeated in singles and mixed doubles.

Record number of consecutive wins by any team in Carnival history - 5 (by Waverley Tennis, 2006 -2010)
Best Team Managers' afternoon team on record (thanks Janice Hocking); the BBQ on Saturday was pretty good as well (thanks to Len Pratt, David Hocking & Lindsay Coster)
