HISTORY and OBJECTIVES
Waverley Tennis was founded July 1979, celebrating 30 years of tennis in August 2009. Affiliated with Tennis Victoria, Waverley Tennis
is one of the largest tennis associations in Australia, fielding around 2,000 competition teams annually and embracing all player levels
and categories of tennis.
The Association's objective is to provide a diverse range of inter-club competitions that meet
the needs of clubs and their members in the cities of Monash, Whitehorse, Stonington, Kingston, Boroondara, Knox, Greater Dandenong,
Casey and Cardinia and to actively focus on the development of tennis particularly at the junior level. It also seeks to promote tournament
play as an extension to club competition.

COMPETITION, CLUBS and PLAYERS
The Association currently consists of 108 affiliated tennis clubs located in the outer south eastern suburbs. It offers all forms of innovative
inter-club competition.
- Saturday/Sunday (Juniors only Sunday) Competitions:
- Winter Season (April to September): 490 Junior teams and 223 Senior teams - approximately 3,700 registered players.
- Summer Season (October to March): 525 Junior teams and 305 Senior teams - 4,000 registered players.
- Mid-Week Competitions:
- Two seasons are played in each calendar year - Autumn and Spring.
- Ladies: 65 teams per season- approximately 500 players who play on Thursday mornings.
- Mens: 24 teams per season - aproximately 150 players who play on Wednesday mornings.
- Night Competitions:
- Autumn and Spring Seasons: 34 Clubs, 30 Venues - 120 teams per season - 800 registered players.

ROBINSON RESERVE TENNIS CENTRE
Supported by the City of Casey, Waverley Tennis manages and operates the Robinson Reserve Tennis Centre incorporating
the Doveton Tennis Club. The complex has 9 floodlit red porous (clay) courts which are serviced by a supplementary water tank supply
(90,000L).
- Venue for Waverley Tennis Tournaments, Special Events, Grand Finals, Training Squads.
- Monday night high standard singles competition.
- Home of the Doveton Tennis Club - competition and social play.
- The club coach provides community coaching for Juniors and Seniors.
- Courts are available for public hire and local tennis club hire.

ASSOCIATION TOURNAMENTS
Waverley Tennis is one of the principal tournament organisers in Victoria.
- Labour Day Weekend - Tennis Victoria Development Series in Open age and Waverley graded events. Major annual event with
over 400 entries.
- Queen's Birthday Weekend - Australian Ranking Points and prizemoney awarded in Open events, also graded and junior events.
Major annual event with over 500 entries.
- September School Holidays - Junior Compass/Round Robin.
- Melbourne Cup Weekend - Australian Money Tournament ($10,000 prizemoney pool) and Tennis Victoria Junior Development Series.
- Mid-Week Ladies Annual Round-Robin Tournament.
- Mid-Week Mens Round-Robins.
NOTE: All Waverley Tennis tournaments are approved Tennis Victoria and appear in its Tournament Calendar.

JUNIOR PLAYER DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES
Waverley Junior Development Squads
Multiple Squads train weekly during School Terms (approx. 120 Junior players). Waverley Tennis successfully competes
in Squad Challenges against other Victorian tennis associations and regions.
Inter-Association Regional Challenges
- Associations and Regions Tennis Challenge, Queen's Birthday Weekend (12, 14, 16 age groups),
- Alicia Molik Cup (12 and under event),
- Frank Sedgman Cup (11 and under event),
- Wayne Arthurs Cup (10 and under event).
Junior Pennant Competition
An Inter-Association Competition conducted by Tennis Victoria. Waverley Tennis fields between 15 to 20 teams in this
Sunday morning Competition, in which approximately 100 Waverley Tennis Junior players participate. Played August through
November each year.

ADDITIONAL ANNUAL JUNIOR PARTICIPATION ACTIVITIES
- Pat Pearce Carnival - Junior Team Event - Played annually between Waverley Tennis, Tennis South Australia, Eastern Region
Tennis and North Suburban Junior Tennis Association.
- Daphnee Fancutt Shield - Junior Team Event - Played annually between Waverley Tennis, Fancutt Junior Tennis Club (Queensland), interstate tennis associations, and other selected Victorian metropolitan and country teams.
- Triarm Challenge - Junior Team Event - Played annually between Waverley Tennis and Peninsula Tennis Association.

WILSON SPORTS MERCHANDISING AGREEMENT
Waverley Tennis has developed a strong relationship with Amer Sports Australia (Wilson), which offers increased financial
benefits on tennis ball purchases to affiliated clubs. This is additional to the agreement available through Tennis Victoria. Approximately 50 clubs participate with an annual turnover of approximately 3,000 dozen balls.

OTHER AGREEMANTS and RELATIONSHIPS
- Bendigo Community Bank Pinewood provided community financial support and banking facilities to Waverley Tennis, affiliated clubs
and club members. This support includes an ongoing cash rebate based on account balances.
- Waverley Tennis has negotiated electricity and gas supply agreements, washroom services, which are available to clubs and their members.
- We are continuously seeking relationships able to offer commercial and other benefits to the Association, clubs and their large family
membership networks.
