Pizzey Cup: Waverley District juniors shine for Victoria

EIGHT Waverley District Tennis Association juniors represented Victoria with distinction at the Pizzey Cup tournament at the Memorial Drive tennis courts in Adelaide earlier this month.
The eight players were part of the 16-strong team that won a silver medal in the week-long competition in which boys and girls play singles and doubles matches in a team-scoring format.
WDTA players Aaron Addison, Alex Van De Steenoven, Ryan Draffin, Daniel Nickels, Nathan Ponton, Jaide Collins, Jayde Viccars and Georgina Jupp all played in the Victorian side during the competition, which is for players aged under 19.
Team Vic had wins over South Australia, Tasmania, the ACT and Western Australia, but a loss to eventual winner New South Wales, which has won the past four cups, left the Vics with second place and the silver medal.
