COVID 19 Instructions to Waverley Tennis Affiliates

Reference: Tennis Victoria’s ‘COVID 19 Update for new State Government Directions’ Issued 30 October 2021

IN SUMMARY AS RELEVANT TO PARTICIPATING TENNIS CLUBS:

  1. As your premises is only being opened for community sport, you do not need to be fully vaccinated, or confirm vaccination status or comply with venue density limits.

  2. The definition of community sport is all community sport playing activities that are authorised by the State Sporting Association, in your case, by Tennis Victoria. For tennis, this includes on court activities, i.e., coaching, competitions, tournaments, training/social play and court hire.

  3. Your clubhouse can open:
    As your clubhouse is open for the purpose of community sport only, you do not need to be fully vaccinated, or confirm vaccination status, or comply with venue density limits. The running of a canteen or the sale of drinks are not permitted, nor are morning and afternoon teas permitted. Competing teams may make appropriate arrangements to socialise separately outdoors.

  4. Spectators are permitted at your venue, subject to public gathering limits in the Stay Safe Directions No. 28, in groups of no more than 30 (multiple groups must be spaced out).

  5. Your tennis club is required to have an up to date and accessible COVIDSafe plan, and which may be required to be approved by your Local Government Authority or Administrative Organisation.

  6. Everyone attending your tennis club must continue to Check-in via the Service Victoria QR code app.

  7. Face masks are required to be worn in indoor spaces only for 12+ (unless a medical exemption applies).

  8. Players are encouraged to continue to practice the COVIDSafe principles.

  9. Shared equipment must be cleaned between users.

FOOTNOTE:

Some tennis clubs may have further measures beyond the above guidelines and these measures are to be conveyed to your tennis club preferably at least 7 days in advance of the match fixture date.
