As flagged at the recent Match Convenors’ Meeting for the Summer 2026/27 season, we would like clubs to vote for their preferred start dates for Winter 2027 season.
The dates for Winter 2027 listed below are provisional, and subject to the results of the following club survey.
Waverley Tennis uses the government school calendar to set competition dates, avoiding school holiday periods and public holidays.
It has been tradition to start play the weekend after ANZAC Day (i.e. the first weekend of May). Also, in past winter seasons we have played either the first or last weekend of the winter school holidays. This schedule ensures we can play 14 weeks of home and away matches and have a spare week for finals.
Dates to note:
- Easter: March 26th - 29th
- Government School Holidays - Winter 2027: Last day - Friday June 25th
- Government School’s Term 3 First day - Monday July 12th
We would like all clubs’ input on the options we are proposing, which are:
Option 1
PLAY FIRST WEEKEND OF TERM 2 SCHOOL HOLIDAYS.
Team entries will close Monday 22nd March 2027.
(Same as Option 2 but play on June 26 and resume season on July 17.)
Option 2
PLAY LAST WEEKEND OF TERM 2 SCHOOL HOLIDAYS.
Team entries will close Monday 22nd March 2027
(Same as Option 1 but No Play on June 26 and Resume season on July 10.)
Option 3
NO PLAY TERM 2 SCHOOL HOLIDAYS.
Team entries will close Monday 8th March 2027.
(2 weeks earlier than normal and prior to Summer 2026/27 season finals.)
Play first weekend back in Term 2 - No play in winter school holidays.
